Isolated Acoustic Cancellation (IAC)
Isolated Acoustic Cancellation (IAC) is a combination of self-controlled and pseudo-active acoustic structures as an add-on to the barrel (replacing a rifle handguard). IAC consists of two noise damping mechanisms. Both noise absorption mechanisms are strategically placed to target specific spectral contents without interfering with projectile movement or affecting gas discharges inside the barrel. This non-interference is possible by coupling the IAC acoustically to the barrel’s outer surface as a handguard replacement.
